The biggest mistake I’ve seen parents make is not having a clear plan or surprising their toddlers with potty gear out of the blue.

Instead, I recommend starting with a fun and engaging activity: the “Diaper Hunt”! Yes, you heard that right. Get ready for a diaper-finding adventure throughout your home. Grab a little box or a garbage bag, and with your child’s help, collect all the diapers you can find. Make it exciting by pretending to wear “diaper goggles” or “diaper binoculars” to spot every single one!

Now, there are many creative ways to make the diapers disappear.

If your child loves garbage trucks, you can dispose of them in the trash and watch the garbage truck take them away, saying goodbye to the diapers forever. But don’t worry; remember to take them out later; we don’t want to waste diapers! A lovely option is to donate the diapers to a diaper bank near you, helping families in need.

Once the Diaper Hunt is done, it’s time for your child to bid farewell to their last diaper. Let them throw it away in the trash with great excitement, as they embrace the new bottomless adventure! Going “bottomless” is a step I highly recommend. It allows your child to feel the natural sensation and build a connection with the potty.

Now, let’s talk about setting up a bathroom routine.

Teach your child to use the potty, wipe, flush, and wash hands consistently. This will form healthy habits for the long run, and trust me, you’ll thank yourself later!

To avoid nagging your child for potty breaks, establish specific times for potty breaks during the day, such as after waking up, after meals, before sleep, and before heading out somewhere new. This will make the process smoother and more predictable.

Remember, leading by example is powerful.

When it’s time for your child’s potty break, have one yourself too. Your child will be more likely to cooperate when they see you doing it too.

Now, here’s a crucial tip: don’t stress!

I know it can be challenging, but try to enjoy this learning journey with your child. Every child has a unique learning style, so adapt your approach to your little one’s needs and understanding. Keep it fun, and light-hearted, and celebrate every small achievement together.

Lastly, if you want a comprehensive guide to potty training success, check out “Potty Party: The Course.” It’s a proven program that is child-led and responsive to your child’s growth and development.

Embrace the potty training adventure, make it enjoyable, and before you know it, your little one will be a pro at using the toilet. Remember, you’ve got this, and soon you’ll be celebrating a diaper-free life!

Wishing you all a successful and joyful potty training experience!
