How to Help Caregivers Follow your baby’s Sleep Schedule

WHO IS SABOTAGING YOUR BABY’S SLEEP?! | How to help caregivers follow your baby’s sleep schedule

I know how frustrating it is when you’ve been working on your baby sleep for so long and then somebody sabotages it. It may not be on purpose, so don’t get aggressive at whoever messes up your baby’s sleep, whether it’s a grandparent babysitter and nanny daycare, whoever or whatever messes up your child’s sleep.

The true answer is that it is no one’s fault! Just remember to take a breath, it will be okay, you will get back on track and we can troubleshoot so that this doesn’t happen next time.

The first thing I want you to do is go and grab the SCHEDULE TEMPLATE FOR CAREGIVERS. So when you download this template, it’s going to give you all the things laid out that you need to tell a caregiver. So maybe there’s some things on there, like their bedtime routine or their nap time routine or just any random miscellaneous notes that you need your caregiver to know about sleep times specifically. So what I want you to do is download it, print it out, fill it out and I want you to share it with your caregiver.

Explain to the caregiver with love, say something along the lines of, “I know you love spending time with the baby and I know it seems like she’s doing just fine and that she’s not tired, but when she comes home and she’s over tired, it makes it very difficult on everyone for the rest of the night, through throughout the night and also the next day and it takes a long time to get back on that schedule. So I filled out the template for you so that we can go through everything together and really find a solution so that you’re still being able to spend time with this baby and the baby is getting the sleep that she needs.” Then go through the sheet together.

Once you’ve gone through all of this information with the caregiver, ask them what questions do they have? What questions do they have in order to make this easier for them or what can you make more clear to lay out for them so that they know exactly what they need to do when they’re watching your child.

There’s always difficult situations when raising kids and this happens to be one of them and a lot of people have struggled with this. So, you are not alone.
