Top 8 Reasons to Hire A Sleep Consultant

So you’ve been reading my blogs and hearing all about “sleep services” and consultations and one-on-one support, but you’re still sitting there wondering, “Do I actually need to hire a sleep consultant?” If you’ve been reading all of my sleep tips, your baby still isn’t sleeping through the night and you’re still on the fence about hiring an sleep coach, read on for my top 8 reasons to hire a sleep consultant.

1. Place your trust in the hands of an educated professional.

Not only am I a certified baby and toddler sleep consultant, but I also have a tremendous amount of experience working hands on with infants and toddlers. I have degrees in Early Childhood Teacher Education as well as Child Life Psychology and Child Development. I have extensive knowledge about infancy and childhood and the science of sleep.

2. Baby sleep books offer conflicting advice.

There are tons of baby sleep books out there to help you. Often times, this leaves parents more confused (and still tired) because one book suggests to close the door to your baby’s room and let him CIO until he exhausts himself and gives up and finally falls asleep. Another book will encourage you to stay with your baby in his room until he falls asleep. So where does your baby fall in this wide spectrum of baby sleep advice? A sleep consultant is trained to know which method would be the most effective for your situation.

3. Books can’t answer your questions.

If you’ve read all of the baby sleep books and you’re left with questions, you can’t just send the author an email and get a quick response. Working with a sleep consultant, you’re guaranteed a well educated, thorough response in a time sensitive manner.

4. Books don’t know your parenting style.

If you posted in a Facebook Mommy Group about your baby’s sleep, I can almost guarantee that you got tons of responses from parents that swear by one book or another. So you head to the library, pick up a copy and it completely conflicts with your parenting style? Now you’ve wasted time and energy reading the book and your baby still isn’t sleeping and neither are you.

5. Books don’t know your baby.

When you were pregnant I’m sure you heard that every pregnancy is different and every labor and delivery is different. Well, guess what? Every baby is different. All 3 of my kids were sleep trained differently. Maybe you read one book that offered a sleep training method that worked perfectly for your first born, but your second born had a complete polar opposite temperament and the previous method won’t work with that baby. I’ve seen this scenario happen many times. You’re either back at square one, reading countless sleep training books, or you’re going to let me take the guesswork out of it and offer you the best method that suits your parenting style and your baby’s temperament.

6. One-on-one support helps hold you accountable.

I’m not going to sugarcoat this and tell you that sleep training is easy. Parents need to be 100% dedicated to the process because when it gets hard, sometimes they want to give up. Having a sleep coach to guide you along the way is well worth the investment.

7. Making necessary adjustments.

A huge perk to hiring a sleep consultant is that I can make adjustments where needed. Being able to fine-tune your baby’s schedule is going to help your baby get the appropriate amount of sleep quicker.

8. Rekindle alone time with your spouse.

Since you’re going to have a sleeping baby within a few nights, start planning date night ideas that you can do at home (or be confident that your baby will sleep for a babysitter)! I’ve had countless parents thank me for helping them teach their babies to sleep, but even more parents thank me for giving them their nights back to spend with each other!

There you have it! If you’ve been on the fence about hiring a sleep consultant, now you have 8 reasons why you should invest in better sleep today! I invite you to read more about my credentials and my philosophy as well as learning about the sleep consultation process.

Some things to think about when deciding when you want to start sleep training your baby/toddler:
    • Ensure it’s the proper timing- make sure your baby isn’t sick, you aren’t traveling, or you don’t have any big life changes coming (new baby, moving, switching jobs/childcare, etc.).
    • Be prepared to put in the work. Consistency will pay off in the long run. Sleep training isn’t overnight success; it takes many nights and dedication to help your baby learn to sleep.
    • Create a plan, or invest in a sleep consultant. If you choose to work with me, I will assess your baby’s sleep habits and write a customized step by step sleep plan for your baby. No two plans are the same, just as no two babies are the same. My sleep plans are based on your child’s temperament, age, parental preference and so much more! My sleep packages also come with unlimited support for the duration of your purchase- you can ask me anything and share every triumph and victory!
Sweet Dreams!
